ConIFA World Football Cup 2016 Abkhazia
ConIFA World Football Cup 2016 starts in Abkhazia 28 May 2016. The opening ceremony will take place in the capital, in the city of Sukhum, on the stadium "Dynamo". The first group matches will be played on the 29 may, 2016 and the final match will be played 05 June 2016. All games will take place in the city of Sukhum in the stadium "Dynamo" and in the city of Gagra at Daur Akhvlediani stadium.Rewarding the winners will become the finishing event of the championship.

Football Federation of Abkhazia was established in 1999. During the existence of the Federation headed by its six presidents. President of the Football Federation is elected for four years. The Confederation of Independent Football Associations (ConIFA) is a federation of football associations for all non-FIFA and has more than 25 teams. The Confederation was founded 7 June 2013. At the moment, the Confederation of Independent Football Associations headed by General Secretary Sascha Düerkop.
History of the ConIFA World Football Cup.
The first championship ConIFA World Football Cup ConIFA was held from 1 to 8 June 2014 in the Swedish town of Ostersund. The opening of the tournament took place on 31 May. 12 teams attended the tournament . Initially it was planned that it will be the national teams of Abkhazia, Assyria, Darfur, Zanzibar, Kurdistan, Lapland, Nagorni-Karabakh, the Isle of Man, Occitania, Padania, Tamils and South Ossetia.
The Zanzibar team were unable to obtain visas to enter Sweden and has been replaced by the county of Nice. It is the county of Nice that became the winner of the tournament. The runner-up team -the island of Man, and the third - the team of Assyria.
On July 8, 2015 the executive committee of the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (ConIFA) voted unanimously to hold the World Football Cup 2016 championship in Abkhazia.
During the 3rd AGM in Bergamo, Italy, on the 09.01.2016 the members of CONIFA elected the 12 teams that will participate in the World Football ConIFA 2016.

The resort city of Gagra is situated on the Black sea cost in Abkhazia. As a resort Gagra was established in 1903 by Duke Alexander Petrovich of Oldenburg. During the Georgian-Abkhazian war in 1992-1993 Gagra was at the centre of the fighting and suffered heavy damage.
